Math Each morning we start our day with either Mountain Math (an introduction and review of skills taught and those to be taught at a later date), Word problems from the problem solving box or a reinforcement activity for skills previously taught.
Reading Building strong readers is our goal at Jones. We are working with our Balanced Literacy and Guided Reading Programs. Through them we are getting the students to understand fiction and non fiction texts like Dinosaurs Before Dark and From Seed to Plant. This year we are learning to: Social Studies At Jones we love hands on activities. We do many projects. One of our project is “Foods Around the World” with this project kids learn how to locate different countries on a globe. They learn about different cultures and foods. The class presents an International Festival; they bring foods from different countries. The students present their work to other classroom in English and in Spanish. They are learning that our differences make us unique. Spanish Science Our Science curriculum includes classroom and field investigations to help our students develop the skills of asking questions, doing research, making measurements, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and communicating results.
